Home Drama

Action!! We got a wonderful book from the library. It was a collection of Native American Plays. So, we produced "The Little Red Ant." Isaac played the red ant in the first half, then I took over. It was so much fun putting together the costumes. Red skirts, rocks, pictures of snow, rain, and sun, and a ribbon on a stick to show the wind. It was really wonderful to watch their imaginations at work.

A Day at the Market

There is a local living history farm, The Claude Moore Memorial Farm, that gives a peek into life in 1775. It is fascinating and fun every time we visit, but we've long wanted to go to one of their Market Fairs. Finally, we made it! They had the usual colonial attractions as well as multiple chickens roasting on several spits, a busty slackrope walker, a fencing class, and random madrigal singers. It was a wonderful day.

Bobbing Success!

And she can pull a stick!

Isaac would have been a great colonial boy. . . if he could have watched Harry Potter of course.

Eruption!!!!!

On her last trip, Mom brought Isaac a volcano kit. This was an excellent idea. A quick lesson on magma, lava, etc., some red food coloring and sand and whamo! instant science lesson extraordinaire. . . .

After multiple eruptions, baking soda lava had completely eroded the sand structure, so it then just became a lava party, complete with animals being burned alive in the boiling molten pit. And Emma just laughs.

Carnage, mayhem, snakes, star wars, and science. . . what a wonderful day to be a six year old boy. Thanks Grandma!!!

Birthday Gals

It really comes in handy that Caroline and I have birthdays in the same week. It guarantees a visit from Grandma Lulu. We had an early double birthday party to celebrate!

The kids really enjoyed my birthday cake!!!

(I was a good little girl and only used it for the photo op)
