Poppin' Right Before My Eyes

Ahh the cherry blossoms. One of the rites of a Northern Virginia Spring. The blossoms, the basin, the port-o-potties, the wandering children aching to climb pretty pink trees. We opted out of the big Saturday blossom fest and boy were we glad. It was a stormy morning but we cheerfully threw caution to the wind and headed downtown anyway. After wiling away an hour in a museum the day cleared and we had a beautiful day free of crowds and full of blossoms. Behold the joy. . . Our little tree-hugger. . . we are so proud.
Isaac loved the fountains by the FDR monument. He said it was his favorite part of the day. A close second was when he became an official Cherry Blossom Junior Ranger, giving him authority, and I quote, to "bodyslam anyone I see picking cherry blossoms." He really wanted to flex this authority but was unfortunately not given the opportunity.
Can you tell we had fun? It was an exhausting wonderful day together in Washington, DC. I feel so blessed to be here and to be married to Daman. He is such a fantastic, creative, active father who is always up for adventure and really enriches my life and our children's lives. I love these little family trips and I treasure our family time. Life is grand.

Daman and Lucy in thier bespectacled glory. Daman was pretty depressed to discover his perfect vision wasn't quite that. I think they look great--though maybe not quite as flashy as Lucy's fashion statement.
